The Detroit Lions released their 2020 season schedule yesterday and our initial thoughts were as follows:
* Disappointed that they determined it will be safe enough to charge season ticket holders for 2 pre-season games. In our opinion, threats from the corona virus won’t be cleared until September 13 – the date of the first regular season game. Never mind that we suggested that MLB open July 1.
* If we were gamblers, we would choose the “UNDER” of the 6.5 games the odds-makers have calculated the Lions will win this year.
* Besides Thanksgiving, there are no nationally televised games this season – despite the fact that we publicly apologized for our performance after each nationally televised broadcast last year.
* In a game that will no-doubt be meaningless to them anyway, Lions play Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 16 – Christmas week.
* Our first 2 regular season games are against conference teams – Bears and Packers, respectively. This means we will be mathematically eliminated earlier than normal this year.
Other than that, just another uneventful schedule for a very uneventful team. But maybe 2021 will be their year…
